United in Christ in South West Herefordshire

Abbeydore Deanery is a Christian grouping of 35 churches in 33 parishes.

From Hay-on-Wye and Hereford in the north to the Black Mountains of Wales and Brecon Beacons National Park in the south. Four priests supported by lay and ordained volunteers serve a community of about 12,000 people.

We welcome all those who live and work in the area, and all those who visit or come on holiday here. We hope that you will find friendship, comfort, support and peace along with opportunities to dig deeper into the mysteries of God, and to broaden your spiritual horizons. Above all we hope that here you will find Christ’s love and hope. And if you have enjoyed stepping over our virtual threshold, we do hope that you will want to step over the actual one as well.

Craswall Church Public Meeting
26th February at 7.30pm
Craswall Village Hall

A recent report highlighted a number of structural issues and made a number of recommendations regarding the church building of St Mary’s, Craswall.

The most important is an urgent need to re-roof the church and porch and repair the dormer window.

Having withstood the rain, gales, and storms of the last 500 years (or more) the little church of St Mary’s is in need of some TLC to ensure that she can withstand whatever the weather throws at her over the next 500 years.

This will be a big project, especially for the small rural parish of Craswall, and will involve multiple applications to the Heritage Lottery Fund and other charitable institutions, as well as an active and able project coordinator to manage the project, and a committee to oversee it. Before any project can be launched, however, we need a Statement of Significance along with a Statement of Need.

Please come along to the meeting or get in touch with Alison Silver at alisilver@talktalk.net to find out more.  You can access the Statement of Significance here.
